Michael Bay`s Transformers: Age of Extinction remains at number 1 on the South African box office this week, with over R4.32 million collected over the past week/weekend. The film played on 91 screens nation wide, a 5.8% increase from last weeks 86. The film also gives distributor United International Pictures their second week at number 1.
At number 2 the chart sees its highest new entry with Adam Sandler`s Blended. The film made over R2.37 million in its first week of release. The film distributed by Times Media Films played on 76 screens nation wide.
Another Times Media Films distribution on the top 5 is former number 1 How To Train Your Dragon 2, falling one position from last week to number 3. The film made over R2.31 million in its 3rd week of availability, playing on 94 screens, the most for any film on the top 5.
Coming in at number 4, we have Ster-Kinekor`s only top 5 entry with 22 Jump Street with over R1.81 million collected in its 3rd week of release. The film played on 76 screens nationwide, a 4.1% gain from last week.
Rounding up the top 5, the chart sees the last new entry in the top 10 with The House of Magic, the animation made over R1.40 million on the South African box office in its first weekend of release. The animated film distributed by Times Media Films played on 75 screens nationwide, the least for any film in the top 5.
