South African film, FAAN SE TREIN, scored big at the local box-office this past weekend. Opening on R1,4 million with roughly 32,000 people buying a ticket, according to Ster Kinekor Entertainment.It was the biggest of all new movies opening this weekend and did better than International titles like The Book Thief, Grudge Match and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
FAAN SE TREIN opened at number 2 on the local Top 10, just behind The Wolf of Wall Street starring Leonardo DiCaprio . The movie also opened better than recent Afrikaans dramas Die Wonderwerker and Verraaiers on opening weekend. FAAN SE TREIN received 9 KykNet Silwerskerm Festival awards including Best Picture and Best Actor award for Willie Esterhuizen. FAAN SE TREIN is showing now at cinemas nationwide.
