Sony in Talks with Darren Aronofsky to Direct Evel Knievel Movie

Sony is in early talks with “Noah” director Darren Aronofsky to come on board its untitled Evel Knievel biopic.

The project has been in development at the studio since last year as a possible starring vehicle forChanning Tatum through his Free Association production companyThat project was disclosed in June 2014, with a script from Tatum’s producing partner Reid Carolin, and Tatum, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti producing.

Aronofsky’s directing credits include “The Fountain,” “Requiem for a Dream,” “The Wrestler” and “Black Swan.”

Knievel, who died in 2007, became famous for his daredevil motorcycle stunts — most notably, a failed 1974 jump across Snake River Canyon on a steam-powered rocket. During his career he suffered more than 433 bone fractures.
