Nearly five years after her untimely death at the age of 32, Brittany Murphy is getting a biopic of her life made. The film will broadcast on Lifetime on Saturday, September 6. Amanda Fuller, best known for her work in “Last Man Standing,” portrays Murphy in the film.

The film tells the story of the ambitious drive that Murphy shared with her mother Sharon, portrayed by Sherilyn Fenn (“Ray Donovan”). The two worked tirelessly to turn Brittany into a star, finally succeeding with the cult classic “Clueless” in 1995.

“Her desperation for approval and insecurity about her looks makes her personal life a disaster,”

Lifetime said in a statement describing the project.

“Unlike other stage moms, Sharon was always her daughter’s support system, but that enduring love wasn’t enough to save her sensitive Brittany from the vicissitudes of Hollywood life.”

The film’s description continues beyond her death, including Murphy’s father’s demands in 2013 that the investigation into her death be reopened, as he believed that his daughter was poisoned.
