The last time the world of cinema was graced by a high profile film based on the Holy Bible`s book of Exodus, was with DreamWorks Animation`s 1998 animated-musical feature The Prince of Egypt with voices from veteran Hollywood actors Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Top Gun) and Michelle Pfeifer (Hairspray, Dangerous Minds).
However the tables have turned and the epic story of Exodus has been adapted for a live-action feature, Exodus: Gods and Kings. The film which is directed by Hollywood heavyweight Ridley Scott (Prometheus, Black Hawk Down) and stars one of Hollywood`s finest actors; Aaron Paul (Need For Speed, Breaking Bad), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, American Hustle), Sigourney Weaver (Avatar, Alien) and Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List)
The film, which is set for a Boxing Day release (Friday, 26 December 2014) is an account of Moses’ hand in leading the Israelite slaves out of Egypt under the rule of Ramses II.
The film promises non-dull moments as Christian Bale will be taking the protagonists role of Moses. The role marks a religious themed “hero” for the actor who has previously portrayed a comic book inspired one, with the The Dark Knight`s Batman .
Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty) takes on the character we all love to hate, Ramses II. From what we have seen in the trailer he is definitely not about to disappoint.
