Jeremy Clarkson and co-stars get new car show on Amazon

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are to reunite on a new car show for Amazon Prime.

The former Top Gear host – who was sacked from the BBC show earlier this year for punching a producer in a row over a steak – has teamed up with his co-presenters once again, with the first series of their new programme scheduled to premiere on the online streaming service in 2016.

Jeremy said: “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.”

The popular trio will also be joined by their long-time Top Gear producer Andy Wilman with production on the first of three confirmed series set to begin soon.

Cracking one of his trademark bad jokes, Richard said of the announcement: “Amazon? Oh yes. I have already been there. I got bitten by a bullet ant.”

James added: “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn’t it?”

The announcement comes after May and Hammond decided to step down from Top Gear with the hope of reuniting with Clarkson on a new show.

Amazon Prime Video EU Vice President Jay Marine said: “Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen. Millions of Prime members are already joining our ground-breaking original shows. We can’t wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.”

The car experts also took to social media to express their excitement at their new project.
