Keeping Up With The Mayor On Mzansi Magic

M-Net’s local entertainment channel, Mzansi Magic attests to its diversity in content by bringing viewers a satirical comedy series, The Mayor. The first episode of The Mayor will premiere on Friday, 20 November 2015 at 19:00 on DStv Channel 161.

Set in the city of gold, The Mayor is a comedy series that plays on political satire about a flamboyant mayor of Jozi who is trying to secure a third term in office while running a demanding polygamous family. OJ Mabunda, has to keep a growing family together while trying to cope with running Africa’s richest and largest fictional city, Jozi. With the help of Mercia, his longtime confidant and spokesperson as well as the newly appointed fish out of water Chief of Staff, Martin Shai, OJ Mabunda has to ensure that he makes it to a third term despite certain elements that don’t want him to be mayor, like his City Manager, Lucinda Le Roux. The Mayor’s ambitious plans for the city to cement his legacy cause conflict in the office and could lead to an abrupt end to OJ’s power.
