Many people are addicted to shopping. It can be a dangerous addiction, especially for people who can’t afford it.

In each episode of this documentary series, viewers are given a fascinating look at the lives of two compulsive shoppers whose addictions to the buy have sent them spiraling into extreme debt and have strained their personal relationships to the breaking point. A clinical psychologist is introduced to each individual in an effort to get at the root of what is behind their harmful obsession. Breaking the cycle of rampant consumerism could buy them the most important gift of all–the chance at a healthy and happy life.

The profiled shoppers come in all types, ranging from an heiress who spends $30,000 a month to a woman who fills her home with products from the 99-cent store. Whatever they buy, the subjects are hoping to get the help they need to stop buying so much.
