WHAT GOES DOWN…

Based on true events, “The Conjuring” is about paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga), who have been travelling across the country sharing their stories and investigating paranormal activity. They are approached by a woman named Carolyn Perron (Lili Taylor), who recently moved into a new home with her family but are being terrorized but a dark pressence, and asks the Warrens for help.

THE PLAYERS…

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson play the roles of the ghost/spirit hunting duo of Lorraine and Ed Warren. The two played these roles well, Vera’s character is a more spiritual one, who can connect with these evil and powerful pressences, and you get that from her strong performance. Patrick Wilson’s character of Ed Warren is a training priest, his performance was good but you don’t really connect with his character, which is a down fall on his part but he still gives a good enough performance to keep you engaged.Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston portray Carolyn and Roger Perron, the married couple who move into the haunted house with their 5 children Andrea (Shanley Caswell), Nancy (Hayley McFarland), Christine (Joey King), Cindy (Mackenzie Foy) and April (Kyla Deaver). Lili Taylor delivers a brilliant performance in this movie, she plays her role of Carolyn really well. However Ron Livingston was really not convincing, cant help but feel that someone else could’ve played his role better, you never really believe that Lili and Ron are playing a married couple only because of his mediocre performance, Lili really deserved someone who would’ve complimented her good performance.

The director James Wan gets alot of credit from me for this movie, there was never a moment where you felt safe and secure, you are always on the edge of your seat, with chills running down your spins from the smallest thing like the sound of a door opening, the scares in this movie are on point, james really captured the true essence of a classic horror movie and making sure it doesn’t take anything from the story. The set design and the supporting cast also deserve mention, because they really made this movie complete.

WHY OWN IT…
This is a really good for all Horror/Thriller lovers.  A movie with great scares and a awesome storyline to go with it. Definitely a movie to have in your collection for that one night you feel like a scare.

SPECIAL FEATURES…
There’s a special feature wonderfully titled “Scaring the “@$*%” Out of You”. Which is a cool behind the scenes feature.
